4 TIPS WHEN CHOOSING THE RIGHT EYEGLASSES FOR YOUR FACE

Dear Friends and Fashionistas.
Remember when you were a kid and all you wanted was to wear glasses? I totally remember wishing for them when I blew out my candles every year or playing pretend with my moms old pairs. I even once went as far as faking bad vision during an elementary school eye exam. Then when I got a little older, my dream came true and I actually needed them. Be careful what you wish for, is a lesson I learned early on in life. lol Suddenly as a teenager, glasses weren't cool anymore. For some, wearing glasses is like wrapping yourself in some sort of man-repelling social life. Others, often resort to wearing contacts if they are heavily involved in sports or live an active lifestyle. However now, changes in trend has resurrected the once burdened look of wearing big ugly glasses to now being promoted to another accessory to the wardrobe. The trick now is finding the right ones. In an ideal world, you'd have dozens of pairs in different colors, shapes and styles to suit your ever changing mood, but in reality, glasses can be pretty expensive and more often than not, you're limited to just one or two pairs at a time, so you want to make sure the ones you get are as flattering as possible.
When choosing eyewear, I have put together 4 helpful tips that should help make your job finding the right frame for your face shape, much easier.
1.CONTRAST -The shape of your frame should contrast the shape of your face. So if you have rounder facial features, you may want to move towards frames that are more angular and for angular features , you may want to soften them with more curved glasses.
2.PROPORTION - In general, you want frames that are proportionate with the rest of your face. However, it's different when you are buying sunglasses, which tend to be larger for greater coverage.
3.COLOR - Choose a color that compliments your features. Black is always good for highlighting and outlining your eyes. Glasses that contrast the tone of your face will stand out more, but it's up to you how much of a statement you want to make.
4.FACE SHAPE - This is where it gets a little more complicated. Here's the breakdown:
Heart -shaped Faces - Aviators and Rimless styles work best as they are good at balancing out a broader forehead with a narrower jaw line and a more pointed chin. Rimless are perfect as they keep the face from looking top heavy

Square -Shaped Faces - Ovals and Rectangular styles with rounded edges are great for softening a strong jaw and lengthening the face

Red Frame Glasses, CHIANTI, $94; Wayfarers, RAY-BAN, $160
Narrow Faces - Taller, squared-off or more circular frames which will take up more room on your face and help balance out your features began than oval or rectangular frames. Also, glasses with thicker arms or decorative details at the temples, since they draw attention to the sides of the face and make it appear broader

Rounded Blue Glasses, WARBY PARKER, $145; Black Frames with Gold Detailing, BCBGMAXAZRIA, $143
Trapezoid Faces - If your face is wider on the bottom , try a half rim style or a dynamic cat eye to bring attention up and balance out the jaw line.

Pearlized Frames, WARBY PARKER, $145; Red Cat Eye Glasses, RIVET & SWAY, $199
Tortoise and Gold Frames, MOSCOT, $240; Blue Rectangle Glasses, WARBY PARKER, $95
Oval Faces - If you've got broad cheek bones but a narrow forehead and chin, look for styles that are thicker or darker on top than the bottom, or try a butterfly style which wings up and out slightly at the top.
So the next time your optometrist tells you that you need new glasses, don't stress! Utilize this helpful guide and welcome a new accessory to your wardrobe that can be more than just a boring pair of glasses. They can make a bold statement or represent yourself in any way you choose. Have fun shopping.
