DO'S AND DON'TS WHEN WEARING JEWELRY - WHEN IS IT TOO MUCH?

Dear Friends, Floggers and Fashionistas.
Jewelry, jewelry, jewelry - women absolutely adore jewelry. Yes, we love to mix and match our accessories with our outfit, pairing earrings and necklaces in colourful combinations, wearing large cocktail rings, and sporting pretty charm bracelets that clink in a cute and adorable manner. However, this passion for jewelry comes with the inherent risk of overdoing it and looking like a train wreck. ARE YOU OVERDOING YOUR JEWELRY? Coco Chanel has famously quoted as saying, "Before you leave the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror and remove one piece of jewelry". While accessorizing, it becomes difficult to judge how much jewelry is too much and inevitably, women tend to put on one too many pieces. Too much jewelry distracts attention away from the outfit, makes your look cluttered and the single pieces lose their individuality and uniqueness. Here are some tips that will help you not spoil your outfit by going overboard.
1. COCKTAIL RINGS - Feel free to wear multiple rings on one hand if the rings are tiny or delicate. However, if wearing cocktail rings, wear no more than ONE on both hands. This makes the ring stand out , drawing attention in a classy manner. Women can get away with having their engagement ring/wedding band on one hand, while sporting a cocktail ring on the other.
2. NECKLACES SHOULD GO HAND IN HAND WITH YOUR DRESS NECKLINE -If your outfit is fussy and elaborate, skip the necklace altogether. Wearing a heavy or statement necklace or choker is only a good idea if your neckline of your dress/top is simple. However, if you have a busier neckline with flowers and bows, substitute for simpler, delicate strands. For example, if you have a V-neckline, consider wearing a couple strands of pearls to achieve a timeless and classic look.
3. LAYER IT RIGHT - While layering, remember large necklaces layer well with large necklaces only and small ones with small and medium necklaces work well with both small and large pieces. Layering necklaces works well only if your neckline is super simple, to give you a clean and polished look.

4. CHOOSE THE RIGHT PAIR OF EARRINGS - Don't be afraid to venture out and sport some chic statement pieces like chandelier or tassel earrings, instead of sticking to studs. However, the length should carefully match the occasion. For instance, if dressing up for work, choose medium length earrings to not overdo it. If you are wearing hoops, make sure they aren't too large and when in doubt, stick to timeless earrings like diamond or pearl studs.
5. DRAW ATTENTION TO ONE PIECE - Your objective is to let one of your pieces stand out. Your look should be such that the attention is drawn to one major piece and the other items are merely there to complement it. Try not to have more than one large piece of jewelry like a statement necklace and chunky bracelet or cocktail ring. That is a FASHION FIASCO. Not only will it steal the focus away from your outfit, the items will clash together. Stick with one single color too.
6. MATCHING EARRINGS WITH YOUR NECKLACES - There should be only one statement piece. For example, one large chunky or statement necklace must be paired up with studs or simple small earrings. Or long chandelier earrings would be best coupled with a simples necklace strand or none at all.
8. BRACELETS - Everyone seems to love bracelets. It suits women of all ages. Chunky bracelets give a completed look when paired with sleeveless or strapless dresses. Smaller bracelets can be paired together however, larger chunkier bracelets should be worn by themselves. If you are wearing a cocktail ring, ditch the chunky bracelet and opt for a small dainty piece
You see my most favourite accessory in the closet is jewelry . For me, it can turn any boring outfit into chic and stylish. I had the great experience to work directly in this field for SILPADA DESIGNS. Styling women of all ages in their homes was an experience like no other. I learned a lot about personal styling and treating each individual as a separate canvas. What may look great on one girl, may not do justice on another.
I am a true believer that it doesn't take much money to look fabulous. You don't have to be drenched in Tiffany jewelry to look like you know something about fashion. Don't get me wrong, Tiffany jewelry is of course classic and gorgeous but not for everyone to afford. I want you all to know that we can all achieve the look and follow the trend without emptying out our wallets. Fashion and style is for everyone and it does not discriminate. Having just a few unique pieces in your closet, that fit the trend can be all you need to dress up any blah outfit and I will show you how to achieve that.
So to sum up, your choice or jewelry should be dictated by your outfit, the occasion, the time and place of sporting it and also by the current trends. Feel free to seek inspiration from magazines or Pinterest to achieve a balanced look.
Lastly, don't forget to sport the most important piece of jewelry: your confidence! Wear what you like but wear it confidently, for there is no substitute for confidence ladies!
Tell me what you think of this post. Leave me suggestions on what you consider overdoing your jewelry would be?
ALWAYS REMEMBER, LESS IS MORE!
Fashionably yours,
Liana
